Paris bomber’s lawyer takes on MEP Eva Kylie’s defense at Catergate inquiry –

The former lawyer of Salah Abdeslam – a key figure in the 2015 Paris terror attacks – is taking over the defense of Greek MEP Eva Kaili in an investigation into alleged corruption in the European Parliament.

Sven Marie, a prominent Belgian criminal defense lawyer, told Politico on Monday that she will take over from Andre Risopoulos, who has been representing Kylie until now.

“I’m passing the torch,” Mary said in a text.

Kylie’s former lawyer, Andre Risopoulos, confirmed to Politico that he was no longer in charge of the file, but declined to comment on why that was.

Marie is a well-known attorney in Belgium, both because of her high-profile clients and because of her public appearances, for example in public interest programs about lawyers.

Outside of Belgium, Marie is mostly known as the lawyer who represented Abdeslam, the only surviving member of the group that carried out the Paris terror attacks in November 2015, who was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Already, he was known as the “devil’s advocate” because of previous clients, such as Fouad Belkasem, who recruited young men to fight for the Islamic State. Marie is known as an outspoken figure in the Belgian media and insists that she is “not a lawyer who only wants to protect victims.”

Mary also took on other types of cases. He defended the family of Sanda Dia, who died after a brutal initiation ceremony conducted by an exclusive club at the University of Leuven, KU.
