A Serbian MP from the Socialist Party resigned from his parliamentary post on Tuesday after being caught watching pornography during a debate on Kosovo.
A video captured during the debate shows a confused Zvonimir Stević. In the footage, he watched a series of pornographic clips as President Aleksandar Vucic called on the Serbian parliament to normalize relations with Kosovo so that Serbia could gain EU membership.
The clip did not go down well with Stevich’s bosses.
“It is a scandal and a disaster. Zvonko, your resignation is realistic. You can’t have another deputy, because you can’t deal with it,” Serbian Foreign Minister and Socialist Party leader Ivica Dasic told Stević in response to the clip.
“No matter where you show up, no matter what you say, you will always be a porno MP,” Dasic added. Stevich replied, “I’m a party soldier, I’ll do what you say” and resigned.
Stivic, a senior member of the Socialist Party, a junior member of Serbia’s ruling coalition, was chairman of the “Committee for Kosovo” in the Serbian parliament.
Stevich spent more than a minute watching and browsing adult content on his phone. He was caught red-handed and a clip later aired TwitterBefore the national media picked up the story.
The ruling Serbian Progressive Party, the coalition’s senior partner, also reprimanded Stivic for viewing adult content during the debate, which also saw several MPs physically clash.
Serbia and Kosovo have come under increased pressure from Western countries to hammer out a deal that would see the two sides normalize relations after repeated flare-ups in the latter half of 2022.
